Basic Properties of Electrical Components

This post provides a review of all the basic properties of Electrical Engineering. Voltage, current, resistance and power are the four basic properties of electrical circuits.

Voltage: The potential difference between two points. You can easily understand the voltage by considering the case of a magnet. The magnet has a magnetic force by which it attracts or repels the other metallic objects. Like a magnetic force, a similar force named the electric force exists in nature. The voltage is the measure of the difference of electric force between two points.
Current: The flow of electric charge from one point to another is known as current.
Resistance: It is defined as the opposition to current flow.
Power: Generally the power is defined as the rate of work. In Electrical Engineering the power is defined as the product of voltage and current.
