In science and other educational fields, the large numbers and quantities are expressed in the form of power of tens. However, in electrical engineering, the case is different. Here the large numbers are expressed in the form of prefixes. For example, the number 1000 is expressed in the form of a kilo. Consider the case where you are going to use a resistor of 1000 ohm, now you’ll write it as 1 k instead of writing 1000. The use of prefixes is even more useful if you are dealing with huge numbers. For example, instead of using 1,000,000 you can simply say 1 mega or 1 M.
