Formula to Calculate Current in Single Phase Circuits

Today Electrical Engineering Videos shares three basic formulas to calculate current in Single phase circuits.

These formulas are useful to calculate current from watts, kilowatts or HP. Let’s watch the video.

From Single Phase current when watts are given

Formula -> I = P / (V*PF)
Where PF represents power factor

When kW is given

Formula > I = (P * 1000) / (V * PF)
Here 1000 is multiplied for the conversion purpose.

When HP is given

Formula > I = (HP * 746) / (V * PF)
Here 746 is the multiplication factor which is required for HP conversion.
